This is a permanent, full time role located at 100 King St. West at First Canadian Place.  The Senior Business Analyst (Senior BA) acts as the requirements project lead for small to medium projects. The role is the key client relationship manager for the duration of the project and is accountable for consulting with the business to understand its business goals and objectives, processes, and requirements. The Senior BA collaborates with the Information Technology (IT) project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design, from which applications and solutions are developed; ensures all requirements are defined, documented, implemented and tested.
  • Participates in costing exercises with BTS’s and/or project/work teams that are used in determining business initiative feasibility and priorities, and/or used by Project Managers for project planning
  • Identifies sources of requirements, possible interfaces, and affected Lines of Business based on high-level process description or scenarios in order to understand stakeholder needs
  • Identifies inconsistencies and gaps within a business process description and collaborates with stakeholders to clarify and simplify complex processes
  • Facilitates requirements gathering sessions, including leading discussions, managing group dynamics, and maintaining group focus, to work towards accomplishing the stated goal(s) of the session within the context of the project objectives
  • Creates a requirements management plan according to the recommended practices of the organization so that activities and milestones of the requirements management team can be measured against the goals of that plan
  • Adheres to and ensures that others adhere to the organization’s Requirements Management Process to support the organizational standards and ensure consistency of deliverables
  • Provides clarification of requirements to other project team members to assist them in the creation of their specific project deliverables
  • May be involved in writing new test packages and updating existing test packages (i.e., design, execution plan, and data preparation) in order to correctly guide subsequent testing activities
  • Participates in and/or moderates reviews or inspections, in collaboration with the project team, to ensure the quality of work products
  • Executes and verifies the performance of system functions in order to demonstrate the integrity of those functions; tests all functions and verifies all outputs to ensure the detailed data requirements are met
  • May perform regression testing to ensure that existing system functions have not been compromised by the delivery of new system functions
  • May participate in verification of the appearance of the testing output to ensure it meets the requirements of the business
  • Possesses a university degree/college diploma and/or 3-5 years experience in the IT industry
  • Possesses solid knowledge of the Finance/Banking industry and has working knowledge of regulatory reporting or accounting applications
  • Has demonstrated experience with business process mapping
  • Has a solid understanding of one of data delivery, data optimization, or data acquisition, including specialized solid knowledge in some segments of how business partners consume and manipulate data, or how products and sources structure data for reporting purposes
  • Is familiar with implementing processes at an organizational level using Enterprise IT methodologies (e.g., CMMI, ITIL, etc.)
  • Is familiar with CMMI assessments/International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 Audits/ITIL processes  
  • Possesses solid analytical skills for complex problem solving
  • Is able to manage multiple priorities
  • Is detailed oriented
  • Demonstrates solid communication skills both written and verbal, with solid documentation skills and the ability to organize information
  • Displays good interviewing and facilitation skills, and has experience running workshops and data gathering sessions
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills
  • Possesses good relationship management skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as part of an integrated team
