Please note that in addition to working out of our corporate headquarters at 78 Signet Drive, the candidate will also be required to work onsite at our flagship corporately owned restaurant location at 1980 St. Clair West and an anticipated second location at York Mills and Bayview. These locations may vary.

Nature of Employment: Permanent, Full-time, Shift and Flexible Hours, Evening and Weekend. Availability Required

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: $50,000 annually

Benefits: 4% Vacation Pay

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning and directing authentic Neapolitan pizza preparation and culinary activities for our corporately owned store locations in Ontario. The right candidate will create or modify pizza recipes in the Neapolitan tradition, exploring creative pizza varieties and staying current on cooking trends and best practices. The candidate will also be responsible for planning and directing food preparation at the restaurant or restaurants and supervising the activity of kitchen staff to ensure that the menus and food meet quality standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Preparing recipes (including dough preparation) in the Neopolitan tradition and operating wood-fired oven;

  • Modifying and/or creating new menus that meet quality standards;

  • Recruiting, training and supervising staff in meal preparation and cooking;

  • Working with specialized cooking equipment (wood oven, etc);

  • Arranging for equipment purchasing and repairs;

  • Estimate food requirements and food/labour costs;

  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards;

  • Establish staff work schedules, approve time and monitor staff performance;

  • Maintain positive and professional approach with customers and staff; and

  • Uphold all Company standards, policies and procedures.

Minimum Skills Requirement:

  • 10+ years of proven work experience as a Neapolitan Pizza Chef;

  • Must be a certified Pizzaiolo Verace in good standing;

  • Strong understanding of the authentic Neapolitan pizza technique;

  • Proficient in operating wood-fired ovens;

  • Excellent record of people and kitchen management;

  • Strong operational skills in a customer service environment with a focus to drive customer experience;

  • Able to work a flexible work schedule to meet store operating hours;

  • Available to work evenings and weekends;

  • Strong customer service, communications, time management and problem-solving skills;

  • Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment;

  • Working knowledge of MS office and POS software;

  • Must possess a valid Food Handling Certificate;

  • Active certified membership in the Verace Neapolitan Pizza Association is an asset.

Required Education:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required;
