The Director of IT Operations is accountable for the operation of Enercare IT applications and systems in meeting service levels. The main objective is to ensure secure, stable, reliable and cost-efficient IT systems to support Enercare business activities.

The position is responsible to develop and implement strategic plans to increase efficiency and effectiveness for IT Operations. Lead the effective introduction and adoption of best practices and technology to optimize operation costs and resources to support application platforms and integrated solutions.



Responsibilities:

Management and Operation:

  • Manage resources, internal and external, that support operations, including applications, middleware, databases, and infrastructure systems.
  • Define, measure and report operational Key Performance Indicators.
  • Develop business standards and industry best practices to enable the achievement of service levels
  • Seek opportunities to improve service level performance and user satisfaction.
  • Is accountable for overall technical support of all in-service IT applications, mobile apps, middleware, databases and infrastructure both on and off premise. Fosters a team-based approach to problem solving to address issues and to improve the operations and processes.
  • Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans with business partners to achieve business objectives; conduct annual tests to achieve internal controls compliance; and execute plans as needed to support business operations
  • Participate in the planning, architecture, and implementation of new IT applications and integrated systems to ensure they are sustainable and cost effective to operate
  • Oversee databases, data appliances, data warehouse operations.
  • Foster and maintain partnership relationship with strategic service providers to ensure IT consistently delivers timely services and resolutions to meet business needs.
  • Manage external service providers and contracts
  • Develop, define and enforce IT standards, policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify and address IT risks based on business impact and priorities.
  • Manage procurement, installation and life-cycle of IT assets such as facilities, infrastructure, software licenses, and application systems.
  • Manage IT Security operation and administrations, such as prevention, detection and security incident investigation and reporting.Ensure compliance to IT Security policies.
  • Ensure data and information security, such as detection and incident investigation and reporting. Ensure compliance to regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure that application and system maintenance is performed for data integrity, optimization and reliability



Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and mentor/develop team members 
  • Establish high-level objectives for its respective team and oversee the cascading of those objectives
  • Develop and define succession plans to mitigate risk of employee departures
  • Lead by example by being customer/user focus, demonstrating and emphasizing importance of following process to achieve service levels.

Budget:

  • Prepare and obtain approval of IT budget including medium to long term planning for IT Operations and forecast of resources requirements and required capacities
  • Maintain proper control of approved budgets, taking timely actions to mitigate unexpected variances and avoiding annual budget overruns.
  • Provide cost estimates to operate new IT applications and solutions

Qualifications:

  • University degree in the field of computer science or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years in various roles with IT applications, systems and infrastructure development or operations functions.
  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of operational process/procedure development and its application in a production environment 
  • Proven vendor relationship management experience in successful comprehensive service outsourcing. Leveraging vendor’s capabilities to achieve cost optimization and best in class service delivery.
  • Management experience of IT security operation and administrations
  • Experience in managing data/information security including preventive and detective measures
  • Experience planning and implementing large scale IT application, integrated systems, and platforms.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and executing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
  • Experience supporting ERP applications, integrated systems, middleware, databases, and application platforms
  • Experience with enterprise IT infrastructure planning and operation
  • Strong understanding of various IT industry best practices and technology trends.
  • Project and program management experience 
  • Good communication, analytical, and presentation skills 
  • Experience in planning and managing departmental expense and capital budgets 
  • Acute sense of ownership and accountability
