The Neurophysiology Technologist provides and ensures the competent and compassionate care of children (and their families) while performing quality neuropyhsiological testing procedures in one or more of the following areas: EEG, EP, cEEG and Epilepsy Monitoring..  The Neurophysiology Technologist can perform advanced level testing with and without supervision.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

  • Obtain a current clinical neurological history of the patient
  • Educate the patient/family about the procedure
  • Prepare the patient for the procedure
  • Perform the procedure utilizing specialized computer and/or video/digital equipment
  • Produce a detailed technical report and consult with other health care professionals
  • Operate the machinery/equipment to aid in patients’ responses and maintain the equipment in good working condition including performing routine/emergency testing and maintenance
  • Participate in teaching, training and other educational activities as required
  • Work flexible hours. This position will require weekend and/or evening work plus regular on-call shifts as scheduled.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • University background in sciences plus graduation from a Canadian Board of Registered Electrophysiology Technologists Inc. (CBRET) approved electrophysiology program from a recognized college or teaching hospital
  • Passed certification examination from CBRET and in the process of obtaining the Registered Technologist Certificate in either Evoked Potentials (R. EPT), Electromyography (R. EMGT) or Intraoperative Monitoring (CIMT)
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (CAET)
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Minimum two to three years of neurophysiological experience at a teaching or clinical hospital
  • Minimum of at least one year experience in pediatric EEG
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment with stressful situations, to meet the needs of the patients
  • Strong computer skills and ability to meet continuing education requirements
  • Ability to work as part of the healthcare team, including patience and the ability to work with diversity and people with different opinions
