Senior Business Analyst – Merchandising, Sourcing and Marketing Delivery

As a Senior Business Analyst you will help define and deliver solutions that meet business objectives while serving as a primary facilitator between the business and IT to understand business needs.Partnering with your IT and Business teams, you will lead the planning, elicitation, analysis, validation and management of requirements, business processes, and high-level solution designs.This position will be part of an IT team that supports the Merchandising, Sourcing and Marketing business functions.


  • Work with the client /product owners and Project Manager to define the project’s scope and identify and categorize project stakeholders 
  • Develop, communicate, and implement plans for defining requirements complete with timelines, approaches and deliverables
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with diverse stakeholders
  • Form a partnership with the business and IT teams to understand their business in order to capture clear, concise and accurate requirements
  • Build stakeholder trust by understanding their business concepts, issues, opportunities and language
  • Convey requirements and design concepts with models such as gap analysis, UE cases and prototypes
  • Create, refine and maintain user stories and associated deliverables to meet development and stakeholder needs
  • Facilitate problem-solving discussions and general communications between the business and IT and within IT itself
  • Provide support for project management, development and QA teams
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by facilitating information sharing and team cooperation


  • University degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in an Agile project-based environment
  • Understanding of and experience within a Retail environment
  • Fluent in technology and strong knowledge of project and software development methodologies/techniques/language
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, interviewing and workshop skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, communication (both written and verbal) and conflict-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work on simultaneous projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, overcome confusion and simplify complex situations
  • Comfortable working with complex data with strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Experience leading and organizing meetings
  • Experience creating Agile user stories
  • Experience educating and training others and/or helping clients and customers with using data and reporting to solve problems
  • Knowledge and interest in industry best practices regarding requirements definition and management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio)
  • Experience in Agile Scrum Delivery 
  • IIBA Certification is an asset
  • Experience with technical writing is an asset
  • Experience with Master Data Management tools and concepts is an asset
