Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Informatics:
Your goal in this position is to be accountable for fostering the development of clinical excellence, and facilitating the provision of outstanding patient and family experiences within the Clinical Informatics department. You will be responsible for developing, coordination, and presentation of training materials to train and prepare end-users for the implementation of health service applications. You have in-depth knowledge of Cerner Health information technology. You act as a mentor, coach and an educational resource to end-users. You have effective interpersonal and communication skills, combined with excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes. You have strong project management skills, with the ability to give feedback. You build relationships with peers and other contacts across the organization and externally to create opportunities for synergy/integration. You will also collaborate with other clinical stakeholders to promote patient-centered care and continuity of care. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

• Provide leadership and accountability for a high quality and effective learning experiences
• Develop, design, and administer instructional training materials covering Cerner health information technology in a comprehensive and approachable format
• Create training materials such as course manuals and web based tutorials; make consistent updates to training materials based on workflow and system changes
• Prepare and assist in the coordination and organization of training with project managers, management, and subject matter experts to organize and tailor instruction materials and outlines
• Promote best practices and evidence based care through the implementation of initiatives that are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction
• Foster an environment that promotes patient/family centered care and inter-professional collaboration


• BScN required, Masters in Nursing or related field preferred. Current registration & good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Current or recent experience in Adult Education; strong understanding of end-user training
• Strong knowledge of Cerner health information technology; ability to design, deliver and assess educational programs
• Minimum of 5 years training program instruction experience with the ability to create training materials when necessary
• Advanced computer skills, and ability to learn and apply new concepts to training efficiently
• Knowledge of the principles of adult education/proven teaching skills an asset.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, related both to employment law and areas of functional responsibility
• Maintain compliance with required Health & Safety, environmental and other legislative requirements
