As an integral member of our Human Resources (HR) team, the Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting HR through the provision of analysis, interpretation and reporting of operational HR data to support HR and management decision-making. Benchmarking of best practices in HR, quality improvement measures and special projects will be key components of the role. As a member of the UHN Human Resources team, HR Business Analyst acts as the global system administrator for the Human Resources Information System to ensure that it meets the present and future demands of Human Resources and UHN.

Responsibilities will include working with the Vice President and HR’s leadership team to respond to organizational needs for information, maintaining the HR dashboard and performance metrics that are aligned with the UHN  Strategies;  liaising with the Management Decision Support team within Digital (Information Management Services); working on special projects including: Employee Opinion Survey, UHN’s risk assessment of HR priorities, HR dashboard indicators, training analysis, person power planning, Talent Management, e-learning and Human Resources Digital transformation.

Provide comprehensive payroll support.

This position requires a good overall understanding of Human Resources as the Business Analyst will interact with many of the strategic functions and projects within HR. The HR Business Analyst will be required to consult with all levels of stakeholders to determine reporting needs and analyze system capabilities to meet those needs.


  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business Management, Health Sciences, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years experience in a healthcare or Human Resources decision support environment.
  • Advanced use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and SQL preferred.
  • Experience with Crystal Report writing an asset.
  • Experience designing and developing standard and ad hoc reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Experience completing surveys
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving skills and statistical abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Experience with project planning methodology.
  • Ability to take initiative, embrace challenges and develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to work accurately while meeting tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and employee information.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly with a strong business acumen.
  • Hands-on knowledge of HR systems and practices would be a valuable asset.
  • Data visualization skills and data management with data cubes or data repositories, experience with solutions like Tableau and PowerBI would be an asset.
