Description

CBC North is seeking a skilled, multi-platform storyteller to tell the stories of the Canadian North and local communities of Yukon. The successful candidate will be a strong journalist and creative thinker who brings original ideas to visual storytelling and will have demonstrated skills in digital journalism.

Based in Whitehorse, you will operate under the general direction of CBC North’s Assignment Producer to research, gather, package and present media for CBC’s platforms including online, TV, and radio.

You will understand the diverse population in the North and the importance of reflecting local communities in our content. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about original stories and issues of the region with excellent interviewing and storytelling skills.  

You have a proven ability to generate compelling story ideas and knowledgeable contacts.

With great interpersonal skills, you have a comfortable and dynamic on-air presence and an ability to generate original story ideas with creative treatments while working with video shooting and editing.

This is for an 8 month term




Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:


  • Ability to work flexible hours.


  • Experience using Avid systems is an asset.


  • Must possess a valid driver’s license


  • You will be required to work a variety of shifts, which may include unexpected overtime situations, weekends and evenings, often independently and without supervision.


  • A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered


  • Graduation from University or Community College in a relevant course of study or equivalent industry experience.


  • Five years of relevant experience
